24 January 2011

#1 Sergeant John V. Young Drive, SF, CA

7:07 PM Call to Order

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

Roll Call of Officers

There was one new member present.

NMTIA 2011 Officers Swearing-In:

District 11 Supervisor John Avalos swore in the officers for 2011.

Supervisor's Report:

Supervisor Avalos gave an update to the membership on issues and events affecting our district.

This year he is on the Neighborhood Services Committee and is looking forward to spending more time out ion the District.  He announced a few upcoming events and also plans to bring State Senator Leland Yee to an NMTIA meeting.

He is supportive of Little City's efforts to change zoning legislation so that they can sell their produce to restaurants; he also supports a Community Benefits District for Ocean Avenue.

His new office at City Hall is #273.

Balboa Park Update:

A grant deadline prompted the recent meeting about a decorative fence to be installed around the renovated playground.

Also, a new basketball court will be included in the renovation plans.

Board Member Linda Litehiser spoke about Balboa Park parcel remnants that were taken by City College to accommodate I-280 that Rec & Park was never compensated for.  As of 2004, one of these parcels alone was valued at $900K.

A motion passes to support Linda Litehiser and Linda D'Avirro to research the recouping of these monies.

Treasurer’s Report:

We have a balance of $3,879.15.

Everyone was reminded to pay their 2011 dues.

Various Communications were read.

A Thank You card was received from our Sunshine Chair, Richard Colin, who spent 54 years supporting his friends and neighbors and NMTIA.  He will be dearly missed and we wish him well in his new home.

A motion passes to recognize Richard Colin and was sent to the Executive Board for discussion.

Old Business:

Geneva Community Garden:  Pres. Tenenbaum reports that the garden has been approved by the City and construction bids are to go out next.

"Sacco Green" & "Olsen Grove":  Pres. Tenenbaum reports that efforts are still being made to push through the naming opportunities for Tony Sacco & Angie Olsen in Balboa Park.

 New Business:

Volunteers Needed:  NMTIA needs volunteers to hand out meeting announcement flyers.

Hospitality Committee:  With the departure of Richard Colin, we need a volunteer to organize meeting refreshments.

A motion to adjourn was approved at 8:05 PM.
